Replay Value scores with an Offline Sandbox mindset in mind
A new series I'll be starting on my blog is analyzing the offline replay value of racing games based on how much you can do and how enjoyable the gameplay is, I'll be touching other genres as well. If a game is struggling on replay value, mods will be highlighted to improve the replay value of any game. Questions will be answered based on how much you can do with the roster of playable cars and levels provided, useful for the content creators out there, and how fun the gameplay is. Scores will be adjusted based on how much freedom you have to create what you want and play how you want using the games car and track list, all without pesky restrictions and internet requirements!
Keep in mind scores will be given if it's between two score titles, for example a score of being between Not Very Replayable and somewhat Replayable, and so on.
Here is the score chart, from worst to best:
Dead and Forgettable - The worst possible score to have, an absolutely anti-casual and barebones experience, for example, a game with lots of cars and locations but with no sandbox like(single race) features available. Nothing to keep you coming back for more as it will be the same no matter how much you replay it offline, and the only way to get the most out of the game is online play. Games with the worst possible restrictions and repetitions on events, modes, and competition will be eligible for such a score.
Very Unreplayable and Restricted - Not a very good score to have, very mediocre player freedom and not much you can do. there will be some value in replaying to enjoy the games cars and graphics, but not how you want it. Online play would be the only way you will get much out of it. After a while after you beat it you might get bored with it and move on to something else.
Not Very Replayable - Eligible if a game has great amounts of content, but mediocre freedom of how you want to enjoy it, that includes your car and your competition. Games that have a robust campaign mode and time attack and no custom single race/free race modes are eligible for this score if such flaws are highlighted.
Somewhat Replayable - Some restrictions and repetitions, and some freedom to enjoy the game how you want. It's not a bad score to have but could be better. For example, a game with no AI opponent vehicle hand picking options, but the cars being different enough every time you load your next race will be eligible for such a score.
Replayable - Standard but good score. A good amount of freedom of how you want to enjoy the game.
Very Replayable - A good amount of freedom of how you want to enjoy the game using the content provided.
Super Replayable - Great score to have. Same as Very Replayable, but not very constricting or restricted.
Massively Replayable - A fantastic score to have, you can load races and sessions, and it will be different every time you play based on what options you picked, fun gameplay and modding opportunities also contributes to getting such a score.
Infinitely Replayable - The best possible score to have, few games can get this score, and it means you can play this game hundreds of times and will never get tired of it, the races and cosmetic customization and options for you and your AI opponents will be fresh and different every time, either by random choosing or handpicked options. Having a game give you this much freedom to enjoy the games content however you like in a sandbox-like setting is a masterpiece.
